Our Lady Of Guadalupe

The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in Mexico in 1531. Her famous image has had many miraculous signs attributed to it.

On 9 December, 1531AD, a poor, uneducated man named Juan Diego had the vision of a beautiful woman who identified herself as the Virgin Mary, the Mother of the one, true God. She asked for a church to be built and Juan Diego approached the local bishop with the Virgin’s message. However, the bishop was skeptical and therefore demanded a supernatural sign.

More details about these and additional miracles related to the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe can be found here.

FAITH IS NOT OPPOSED TO REASON

The Catholic Church proclaims that humanity can come to know the existence of a personal, loving God “with certainty… by the natural light of human reason”.
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 36).
